Jonathan discusses how institutions’ financial resources and enrollment goals impact aid awarding policies, and why families should not make enrollment decisions based solely on colleges’ posted sticker prices. Jonathan also discusses how college savings, specifically 529s, fit into the larger goal of saving and paying for college.  Attendees will leave better educated on college aid awarding practices and empowered to make smart college savings decisions.

About the Guest Presenter: Jonathan Sparling
Jonathan is the Director of Strategic Partnerships at Private College 529. In his role, he is responsible for developing and enhancing partnerships that elevate the Private College 529 brand and support strategic growth initiatives. Jonathan started his career working in the financial aid office at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. During his time at WPI and throughout his career, Jonathan has counseled students and families on college planning, savings, financing and general financial education while also supporting strategic partners in delivering financial education to their students and members. Before joining PC529, Jonathan served as Associate Director at the Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority (MEFA), leading their college relations team during a time of growth and transition into a national lender.
