Why The College Funding Coach?

During my engineering career, I found myself at a financial crossroads. A friend introduced me to a financial advisor, and the insights I gained were eye-opening—I quickly realized I wasn’t nearly as financially prepared as I believed. When I began sharing what I had learned with friends, I discovered that many of them were in the same position: smart, successful, and yet unaware of critical strategies that could dramatically improve their financial futures.

That realization shifted the course of my life. I saw an opportunity to educate others and help families make more confident, informed decisions about their financial lives. Education has always been the cornerstone of my work—I believe that better information leads to better decisions, and better decisions lead to better outcomes. Helping families experience less stress and more joy is both my mission and my privilege.

A Little More About Chris

Career Background:
Chris brings a unique background to his financial practice, with 20 years of engineering experience on projects ranging from Alaska to the Middle East. His career transition into financial services was fueled by a desire to share knowledge and empower others. He co-founded Encompass Financial Partners in Raleigh, NC, where he leads the firm’s education and financial planning initiatives. Chris is a frequent speaker, planner, and advisor with deep expertise in financial strategy and a passion for client education.

Personal Life:
Chris and his wife, Michelle, met and married in Alaska and have enjoyed a rich and adventurous life together—including time spent living in Saudi Arabia, Oklahoma, North Carolina, and Chris’s earlier years in Italy. They are the proud parents of four sons, two of whom are currently in college. Chris is the family’s go-to chef for their annual Italian Christmas feast, a tradition inspired by his years abroad.

• B.S. in Petroleum Engineering, Colorado School of Mines

Community Involvement:
Chris earned the rank of Eagle Scout in his youth and has remained deeply involved in service throughout his life. He has served as Scoutmaster, church leader, and currently teaches a Sunday School class for six-year-olds. He’s also active in the Porsche Club of America, where he previously served as the local membership chair. Professionally, he serves as Board Secretary for the Raleigh Metro chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management and has received regional and international recognition from the Society of Petroleum Engineers, where he served on the international Board of Directors from 2016–2019.

When He’s Not Working:
Chris and Michelle are always planning their next adventure—ask him about hiking the Alpe Adria Trail! He’s a fan of travel, hockey, and competitive cycling, especially following the Tour de France.
