Originally from the mountains of North Carolina, Walt moved East to pursue his undergraduate degree in Mathematics from Elon University and started his career teaching high school in Greensboro, NC. After going back to get his Master’s at Elon University, he joined The College Funding Coach team.
As a former high school teacher and coach, Walt saw firsthand the stress and anxiety that families went through in finding ways to pay for college, while simultaneously trying not to go broke. When the opportunity arose to join The College Funding Coach, he knew it was his chance to help parents and students build a game plan for success to, through, and after their college experience.
Walt makes sure to have meaningful conversations with families to identify what’s most important to them. Together, they work to build a plan that is tailored uniquely to their financial success. Specifically, he helps families ensure they aren’t overpaying for college, while reaffirming that they are also paying in the most efficient way possible.
Walt wants to connect and encourage a growing community of families in the Triad and Triangle regions of North Carolina. His hope is that every client he works with feels more secure and confident from the work they do together. His goal is that his community of clients will be educated and effective in achieving their life’s goals – whether that’s funding college, reaching financial independence or otherwise.
The most rewarding aspect about his role are the relationships he gets to have with the clients he works with. He loves seeing their idea of financial success become a reality.
Walt currently lives in Greensboro, NC with his wife, Caroline and dog, Sully. He also serves on the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Elon Triad Alumni Board and synerG Young Professionals as a Co-Chair. Outside of his professional life, Walt loves to watch sports – Panthers Football, Duke Basketball, and Premier League Soccer to name a few of his favorites. Being the foodie that he is, Walt is always ready to meet for breakfast at Biscuitville, lunch at a local sandwich shop, or for drinks at a local brewery after work.
