Why The College Funding Coach?
I’ve observed three things regarding the college experience in my life that have had a profound impact on me. First, I’ve had the pleasure of seeing firsthand how a college education can dramatically improve somebody’s life and how they in turn can improve their family’s lives for generations to come. Second, I’ve seen how failing to develop a plan for paying for college can have a negative impact on parents’ retirement prospects. Some must delay retirement and others simply cannot retire in the way they had envisioned. Third, I’ve seen how goals need to be modified based on budget and not academic proficiency nor drive.
As a parent, I never want to have to say to my children any version of, “congrats on getting into that school but we can’t afford to send you.” As a financial professional, I never want any of my clients to be in that position either.
I joined the industry in 2018 after nearly a decade of Executive Sales and business development with a passion for helping people retire with financial stability and on their own terms. I quickly learned that one of the largest financial obstacles to that goal is paying for a college education. In 2019 I met Brock Jolly and learned about The College Funding Coach; not only did he share my passion for helping families pay for college without going broke, but he also had a 16-year head-start. All that considered, joining The College Funding Coach team and making the program available to families in Puerto Rico was a no-brainer. Drawing from the program’s experience and institutional knowledge, my team and I plan on helping as many Puerto Rican families as possible.
A Little More About Jorge
A bit of an Army brat, Jorge was born at Fitzsimons Army Medical Hospital in Colorado, and had already lived in San Antonio, Pittsburgh, and Silver Spring, MD by the age of 6 when his father retired from the Army. From that point on he lived in the San Juan metro area, where he currently resides with his wife, Rebecca, and his two children, Isabella (6) and Jorge Ramón (1).
Jorge received his Bachelors in Business Administration (Marketing and Finance) from the Villanova School of Business. He spends his free time both playing soccer (goalkeeper) and coaching the Puerto Rico Medical Fútbol Team. He enjoys running and exploring the great outdoors with his family (he is partial to the beach). He also serves as a member of the neighborhood association in Miramar, Puerto Rico.
